The Community Guidelines govern how you treat other people. This policy governs how you may use our systems — the website, the web app, the iPhone and Android apps, our API, and our course data, bundles and map tiles.
It is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone, signed in or not.
1. Scope
This policy covers foursomes.app and its subdomains, the Foursomes web app, the Foursomes Android app, our HTTP API, and the course bundles, map tiles, elevation data and difficulty index we serve.
2. Do not attack or abuse the systems
You may not:
access an account, dataset or endpoint you are not authorised to use, or attempt to;
share, sell, rent or resell your account or credentials, or use someone else's;
probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or attempt to breach authentication, without our prior written permission (see section 7 for the exception that matters);
interfere with service to anyone — denial of service, flooding, resource exhaustion;
evade or attempt to evade rate limits, quotas, caps or throttles, including by rotating accounts, addresses or tokens;
evade caching or content-delivery controls to increase load;
introduce malware, or use Foursomes to distribute it;
interfere with the integrity of our data, logs, telemetry or audit records.
3. Do not take our data
Our course bundles, map tiles, elevation products and difficulty index are the result of our own work, and running them costs us money. You may not:
scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download course geometry, bundles, tiles, profiles or any other content, by any automated means;
access the API other than through our apps, or build an unauthorised client;
mirror, cache for redistribution, republish or resell our data;
assemble our data into a competing dataset or product;
use our data to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model;
extract another user's information at scale, including profiles, rounds or availability.
Open-data carve-out. Some of what we serve is open data, and this section does not apply to it and does not purport to restrict rights you already have:
You may not use Foursomes to break the law, to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, to distribute unlawful content, to organise gambling, or to launder or disguise the movement of funds. You may not use Foursomes if you are barred from doing so under applicable sanctions or export control law.
6. Commercial use
Foursomes is licensed for your personal golf. You may not resell access, operate a paid service on top of it, or use Pro features to deliver a commercial service to third parties.
This is fine: organising your own club, league, society, crew, trip or charity day; a club officer or captain running events for members; a coach using the app for their own play.
This is not: reselling accounts or access; running a scoring or GPS service for other organisations on our infrastructure; scraping our data into your own product; operating a betting service.
If you want to use Foursomes commercially, email 4oursomes@foursomes.app and ask.
7. Security research and responsible disclosure
We want to hear about vulnerabilities.
If you follow the rules below, we will not pursue legal action against you and we will treat your work as authorised.
Report what you find to 4oursomes@foursomes.app.
Give us a reasonable period to fix it before disclosing publicly.
Only test against your own account and your own data.
Do not access, modify, retain or exfiltrate anyone else's personal data. If you encounter it, stop and tell us.
Do not degrade the service — no denial of service, no destructive testing, no spam, no social engineering of our team or our users.
Do not use physical attacks or attacks on our providers' infrastructure.
Stay inside those lines and you are welcome here. Step outside them — particularly by touching other people's data — and you are not a researcher, you are an intruder.
We do not currently offer a bounty or any other reward for reports. We will thank you, and credit you if you want it.
8. Enforcement
We may, without notice where the circumstances require it:
rate-limit, throttle or block requests, addresses or clients;
remove or restrict content;
suspend or terminate accounts and revoke sessions and entitlements;
preserve logs and other evidence; and
report conduct to law enforcement, and cooperate with a valid legal request.
We will use the least disruptive measure that resolves the problem, and where it is practical and lawful we will tell you what happened and how to respond. Appeals go to 4oursomes@foursomes.app.
9. Reporting abuse
Abuse of the systems: 4oursomes@foursomes.app. Abuse by another user: use in-app reporting and blocking, described in the Community Guidelines. Security vulnerabilities: section 7.
10. Changes
We will update this policy as the product and the threats change. Material changes will be announced in the app or on the website.
