End User License Agreement

Last updated: 2026-10-03 Effective: 2026-10-02

This EULA governs the Foursomes application software — the Android app app.foursomes.mobile distributed through Google Play, and any future native build we distribute.

It sits alongside the Terms of Service, which govern the Foursomes service as a whole. Where this EULA and the Terms conflict about the licence to the application software, this EULA governs; the Terms govern everything else. The Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy also apply.

By installing or using the app, you accept this EULA. If you do not accept it, do not install the app, and uninstall it if you already have.

1. Licence grant

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and run one copy of the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial golf use, in accordance with this EULA and the Google Play terms under which you obtained it.

That is the whole grant. We reserve every right not expressly granted.

2. What you may not do

You may not:

  1. copy, distribute, sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense or make the app available to anyone else;
  2. modify, adapt or create derivative works of the app;
  3. reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, or attempt to derive its source code, except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by applicable law (for example, where local law permits decompilation for interoperability) and only within the limits that law allows;
  4. remove, obscure or alter any proprietary notice, attribution or licence notice in the app — including the OpenStreetMap attribution;
  5. circumvent, disable or interfere with the paywall, entitlement checks, licence checks, rate limits, or any security or integrity feature;
  6. use a promotional, tester or bypass code you were not personally given by us, or share one with anyone else;
  7. scrape, bulk-extract, mirror or systematically download our course bundles, map tiles or difficulty index from the app, or use the app other than through its ordinary interface;
  8. use the app to build, train or improve a competing product, dataset or machine-learning model;
  9. run the app on an emulator, automated client, bot or modified runtime for the purpose of evading limits or falsifying activity; or
  10. use the app unlawfully, or in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy.

3. Ownership

The app, its interface and design, our course bundles, our map tiles, our difficulty index and all related intellectual property are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. This EULA licenses the app to you; it does not sell it to you.

4. Open data and open-source components — this carve-out prevails

The app includes and displays data that is not ours and that carries its own licence. For that data, its own licence governs and prevails over sections 2 and 3 above. Nothing in this EULA purports to restrict a right that one of those licences grants you.

The app also includes third-party open-source components under their own licences. The inventory of external components and their licence posture is maintained in the project's THIRD_PARTY.md. Where an open-source licence grants you rights that conflict with this EULA, that licence governs for that component.

5. Updates

The app may receive updates through Google Play and through our over-the-air update mechanism. Updates may add, change or remove features. This EULA covers updates unless an update comes with its own terms. Keeping the app updated is your responsibility, and older versions may stop working with our servers.

6. Purchases and entitlements

Any in-app purchase is handled by Google Play, which is the merchant of record. Google Play's terms govern the transaction, billing, renewal and refunds.

The coach question pack, when offered, is a one-time purchase of a fixed number of questions. It is not a subscription and it does not renew. Foursomes does not refund it. If Google Play reverses the charge, the questions from that pack are removed.

As of the effective date of this EULA nothing is sold in the app. Where Pro entitlements exist they have been granted directly by us. Any tester or bypass code we issue is licensed to you personally, is revocable at any time, and may not be shared.

Entitlement checks are part of the app's protection measures. Circumventing them terminates this licence immediately (see section 2.5 and 2.6).

7. Your data

The app collects and processes data as described in the Privacy Policy. The app requests location permission to show your position on hole maps and calculate distances, and notification permission to deliver alerts you have enabled. You can withdraw either permission in your device settings; parts of the app will stop working if you withdraw location.

8. Term and termination

This licence runs until terminated. It ends automatically if you breach it. You may end it by uninstalling the app and deleting your account.

On termination you must stop using and uninstall the app. Course data, tiles and rounds cached on your device are part of the licensed materials — uninstalling removes them, and you may not retain, extract or redistribute cached course data or tiles after termination. Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 survive.

9. No warranty

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. Distances, elevation, wind and difficulty figures are estimates — see section 7 of the Terms of Service. The app is not a navigation or safety device.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability and indemnity

The limitation of liability and indemnity in sections 11 and 12 of the Terms of Service apply to this EULA and are incorporated here.

11. Export control and US government users

You may not use or export the app in violation of US export control or sanctions laws, and you confirm you are not located in an embargoed country or on a restricted-party list.

The app is "commercial computer software" under FAR 12.212 and DFARS 227.7202. US Government end users acquire only the rights granted to all other end users under this EULA.

12. Google Play acknowledgements

You acknowledge that:

13. Governing law

This EULA is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and disputes are heard in the state or federal courts located in Jefferson County, Kentucky, as set out in section 12 of the Terms of Service.

14. General

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. We may update this EULA for future versions of the app; continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the updated EULA.
